Hire Grounds was a small business launch campaign I created while at The Partnership of Atlanta. Based in Augusta, GA, Hire Grounds is part of Goodwill Industries of Middle Georgia. We were involved in the entire process, from concept to logo design to strategy to small business launch.

The mission of Goodwill is to provide much-needed job training and employment opportunities—”a hand up, not a handout.” As part of that mission, Goodwill of Middle Georgia opened a culinary school in Augusta, and then launched a restaurant called Edgar’s Grille to provide much-needed food industry jobs.
Hire Grounds was an extension of the same strategy as Edgar’s—launching new businesses to help create and sustain jobs in the community. The idea of Hire Grounds was a combination coffeehouse and job placement center. It’s a place where people can enjoy their morning beverage while looking over employment opportunities. And, as always, a portion of every dollar they raise goes to Goodwill, to help the community.
Small Business Launch
What was our involvement? We developed the coffeehouse concept, the name, the logo, and the advertising. It’s a great example of a small business launch program.
Thanks to Randall Hooker and Tina Lauffer for the creative and design help.
